Therapeutic Stance

As a primarily ACT-focused therapist, my treatment philosophy holds that you are the expert on you.  I do not hold to the theory of someone's being broken but rather to the concept of "stuckness" and mostly "headstuck".

I do not hold myself to be perfect but look at our mutual journeys as two mountain climbers going up separate mountains.  From my vantage point, I can see your perils and travails better than you can and may be able to help you see them, work with them and get "unstuck".

Your life experience and your interpretation of it are of great importance to me.  My pledge to you is to be mindful and attuned to your process, to help you understand what is happening in both your internal and external life, to help you work with your circumstances by being mindfully present in the moment, to work with you to create a meaningful and effective life based on your values and committed to your long-term life vision and goals.

As your therapist, your psychological safety in the counseling environment is of utmost importance to me as is your ability to trust me to guide you in ways that allow you to accomplish your goals for therapy.

My commitment to you is to be in relationship with you from an equal, vulnerable, compassionate, genuine and sharing stance knowing that you have an inherent ability to move from unworkable to workable responses in your life.
